Digital camera/photography settings question?

I have a kodak digital camera. It has a sports mode and a night mode. But when I try to take sports pictures at night, they either come out too dark if I use the sports settings or they come out blurry if i use the night settings. I think I can manually change settings on the camera, but I have no clue what to set them to, to take sports pictures at night. Can anyone help? Thanks.

To be blatantly honest, your camera isn’t any good for the pictures you’re trying to take.

Point & shoot cameras have a very small sensor that does terrible in low light (the more pixels, the worse it gets). There’s no setting in the world you can use to fix a design limitation.

If you go to a cheap SLR you’ll get better pictures, but the lens will still matter (f/2.8 or better is needed, but big & expensive). Also, higher end cameras with a CMOS instead of a CCD and larger sensors (Nikon D700 or Canon EOS 5D or above) will make even a better choice.

There’s a reason why sports photographers use $5000 cameras with $2000+ lenses, and there’s no way to duplicate the effect with a $200-500 p/s camera.
